DECA Cookies and CareersDECA students put on a professional panel with the help of local community members and alumni. This event brought in 400 students throughout the coarse of the day to hear stories and ask their most burning questions about careers related to business. This was part of a three part series on career exploration and development that our students will add to their national DECA project
ACCOUNTING 2019-20After the WILD success of last years accounting sweaters, this years accounting class took their time to create the perfect look. The sweaters stayed PINK by popular demand and would you believe it.. we are up from 1 class to 2 classes AND.. look at all of our accounting girls!
As was the case last year, the best part about these sweaters is that If the students wear them on quiz day, it have been rumored that they will receive extra credit. WHOA |
INCubator Egg Drop 2019-20INCubator students got their first shot at team building with our "egg drop" competition. Here, student teams are tasks with taking the materials at hand to build a protective casing for an egg. They then dropped their build from the ceiling in hopes that their egg would stay in tact. Although we saw a number of teams have great success.. it turns out that drawing a face on your egg before the drop is NOT a key indicator of success.

This year the Niles North DECA chapter brought the nine students that qualified via their state competition showing to ICDC in Orlando, FL. The ICDC features students from around the world who won their state- or regional-level competitions. With the help of Disney World expert Mrs. Attig, the group had a trip they will never forget. |
DECA State Awards '19#DECAmonthIt is #DECAmonth ( November ) on twitter and we have MAY have some of the best content out there. It is amazing to see our members get involved and have a good time with it. My only concern is that there is no formal voting system on who ACTUALLY is the best. I am assuming that it is because they want to treat all of the chapters fairly, but it is a competition circuit after all!
DECA Mums '18There are few traits in business better than learning how to work as team. Here at Niles North the DECA club and the baseball team team did just that! Niles North DECA and the Niles North baseball program teamed up to sell mums and thier annual fall fundraiser.
Not only are the mums beautiful but the proceeds go to a good cause. With the money mad during this fundraiser, the Niles North Business Department is able to sent our DECA students to a number of events in which they have the opportunity to test their business knoweledge against some of the best and brightest students in the country |
DECA Regional Awards '19Bball Teacher AppreciationAccounting SweatersThis year, Mrs. Attig's Niles North accounting class worked as a team to design sweaters for the program. Although there is only ONE girl in this business class they chose the one color that everyone thinks of when they think of accounting.. PINK! They sweaters, the design, and the hash tag on the back were such a big hit, they got offers to sell the sweaters to the rest of the school!
Not only are these Niles North account sweaters beautifully designed, they are functional too. If the students wear them on quiz day, it have been rumored that they will receive extra credit. WHOA |

This has been the Niles North business department's pride and joy (other than the students of course!) during the 1st semester of the 2018-2019 school year. We have put in the time and care to make sure that this room resembles what the students will see when they enter the business world as young adults. A space like this provides collaboration and idea sharing that you may not always see in high school.
The courses taught in the class range from entrepreneurship, accounting, investing, and even marketing. here students at Niles North can feel like business professionals from inside the classroom. 4 |
